REGULAR MEETING

FEBRUARY 1, 2010

The regular monthly meeting of the Jefferson Township Board of Supervisors was held on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Township Municipal Bldg., 487 Cortez Rd., Jefferson Twp., PA.

CALL TO ORDER:  Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Lester L. Butler, Jr.

.

ROLL CALL:  Lester L. Butler, Jr., John H. Patterson, Jr., Paul T. Thomas, Coleen Watt, Donald P. Dolan, Esq.

.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:  A motion was made by Paul T. Thomas seconded by John H. Patterson, Jr. to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.  Aye carried.

.

TREASURERS REPORT:  A motion was made by Paul T. Thomas seconded by John H. Patterson, Jr. to approve the treasurer’s report.  Aye carried.

.

REPORTS OF OFFICIALS AND COMMITTEES:  Ambulance, Fire Company, Police, SEO and Sewer Authority reports were read by Secretary, Coleen Watt.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: 

.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to rescind the motion made last month to give the police department a 3% wage increase.  Aye carried.

.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to give the police department a $1.00 per hour increase in wages.  Aye carried.

ACTION ON BILLS: 

.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to pay all outstanding bills and payroll.  Aye carried.

NEW BUSINESS: 

.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to re-appoint John Madsen, Ronald Mayeski and John Cooper to the Jefferson Township Agricultural Security Board.  Aye carried.

A motion was made by Paul T. Thomas seconded by Lester L. Butler, Jr. to appoint John H. Patterson, Jr. to the Jefferson Township Agricultural Security Board.  Aye carried.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to Approve new bank resolutions to add Paul Thomas as an official to the Township’s bank accounts.  Aye carried.

Ordinance 2010-1 USDA Loan Documents for the upstairs Municipal Bldg. renovation project.  A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to approve Ordinance 2010-1.  Aye carried.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to approve work to be done on the urinals in the downstairs mens room.  Price from Dan Keating Plumbing is $750.00.  Aye carried.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to get a price quote from Acker Associates for a recreation plan.  Aye carried.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Lester L. Butler, Jr. to host a planning seminar.  Cost $1500.00.  Aye carried.

A motion was made by John H. Patterson, Jr. seconded by Paul T. Thomas to approve all bills for the upstairs remodeling project.  Aye carried.

A motion was made by Paul T. Thomas seconded by John H. Patterson, Jr. to hold a work session Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the zoning amendment.  Aye carried.

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: 

.

The Board reviewed the current SEO fee schedule and decided to table the matter until they contact other municipalities to get copies of their fee schedules.

.

Kathy and Tony Zadjura said they would be interested in spear heading the historical society.

.

Joe Smigel of Lions Rd. would like the Township to remove the no parking signs because they are useless.  He noted people are parking there anyway.  He said the Township should issue tickets or remove the signs.

.

Mike Hyduchak reported on the TCC meeting.  Jefferson Township’s dues will be $113.00.  They will be located at the North Abington High School.  The budget will be $25,000.00.

There being no further business a motion was made by Paul T. Thomas seconded by John H. Patterson, Jr. the meeting adjourned.
